- The appliance must not be placed near hot burners or inside a heated oven.
- The breadmaker must only be used for its intended purpose.
Hot Surface and Steam Precautions
The baking chamber, bread pan, and finished bread become very hot during operation.
Oven mitts or pot holders must be used when removing the bread pan.
The lid must not be opened during baking.
After baking, the face must be kept away from the lid while it is being opened because escaping steam can cause burns.
The machine must cool before cleaning or removing components.
Electrical Safety
The breadmaker has a polarized AC plug with one blade wider than the other.
The plug fits a polarized outlet in only one direction.
If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet:
- Remove the plug.
- Reverse its orientation.
- Try inserting it again.
- If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
The polarized plug must not be modified or its safety feature bypassed.
The breadmaker contains no user-serviceable internal parts. Electrical and mechanical repairs must not be attempted by the owner.
Extension Cord Safety
The breadmaker is supplied with a short power cord to reduce the risk of tripping or becoming entangled.
If an extension cord is used, its marked electrical rating must be at least as great as the electrical rating of the breadmaker.
The extension cord must be arranged so that it does not hang over a table or countertop where children could pull it or someone could trip over it.
Electrical Circuit Requirements
The breadmaker should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other operating appliances.
An overloaded electrical circuit may prevent the appliance from operating correctly.
Disconnecting the Breadmaker
To disconnect the breadmaker:
- Turn off the appliance.
- Grasp the electrical plug.
- Pull the plug directly from the wall outlet.
The power cord itself must never be pulled.
Before First Use
The breadmaker must be positioned correctly, and the removable bread pan and kneading blade must be prepared before baking begins.
Step 1: Position the Breadmaker
Place the appliance on a stable countertop within reach of an electrical outlet.
The appliance must remain unplugged during initial preparation.
Make sure there is enough clearance above the breadmaker for the lid to open without hitting kitchen cabinets.
Step 2: Remove the Bread Pan
- Open the top lid.
- Locate the bread pan handle.
- Grasp the handle.
- Pull the bread pan straight upward to remove it.
Step 3: Clean the Bread Pan

Measuring Ingredients Correctly
Accurate ingredient measurements are important for successful breadmaking.
Measuring Liquid Ingredients
A liquid measuring cup with clearly marked measurements must be used.
- Pour the liquid into the measuring cup.
- Place the cup on a flat surface.
- View the measurement at eye level.
- Confirm the amount before adding it to the bread pan.
Measuring Dry Ingredients
Dry ingredients must be measured without compressing them.
- Use a spoon to fill the measuring cup.
- Level the ingredient using the back of a knife or spatula.
- Add the measured quantity to the bread pan.
Flour must not be scooped directly from its container with the measuring cup because this can compress the flour and add more than the recipe requires.
Correct Order for Adding Ingredients
Ingredients must be loaded into the bread pan in the following order:
- Liquid ingredients first
- Dry ingredients second
- Yeast last
When adding the yeast, make a small well in the flour and place the yeast inside it.
Yeast must not come into contact with the liquid ingredients during loading.
Ingredient Temperature Requirements
Unless a recipe specifies otherwise, the introductory baking instructions recommend ingredients at room temperature, approximately 77–85°F.
For Express Bake recipes, water must be heated to 115–125°F and measured using a cooking thermometer.
Individual recipe temperature requirements take priority.

Before making another Express Bake loaf, allow the breadmaker to cool for 20 minutes with the lid open.
How to Use the 15-Hour Delay Timer
The Delay Timer allows bread to finish at a selected time in the future.
The selected time includes both the waiting period and the baking program duration.
Delay Timer Restrictions
The Delay Timer cannot be used with Express Bake.
The manufacturer also warns against using delayed baking for recipes containing perishable ingredients such as eggs or milk.
How to Calculate Delay Time
The delay time represents the number of hours and minutes between the current time and the desired completion time.
For example, if bread is required at 6:00 PM and the current time is 8:00 AM, the delay timer should be set to 10 hours.
For a 2 lb. Basic loaf:
| Timer Component | Duration |
| Total Timer Setting | 10 hours |
| Basic Baking Program | 3 hours 25 minutes |
| Waiting Period | 6 hours 35 minutes |
The machine automatically determines when to begin the baking cycle.

Delay Timer Adjustments in Hot Weather
When using delayed baking during hot weather, the manufacturer recommends considering the following recipe adjustments:
- Reduce liquid by approximately 1–2 tablespoons.
- Reduce salt by approximately ⅛–¼ teaspoon.
- Reduce sugar gradually by approximately ¼ teaspoon at a time.
These adjustments may help prevent dough from rising too much.
How to Use the Gluten Free Program
Menu 8 is designed for preparing gluten-free bread.
The program runs for approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Gluten-Free Ingredient Requirements
All ingredients must be checked carefully before they are added to the bread pan.
Each ingredient must be identified as gluten-free.
A wheat-free label does not necessarily mean that a product is gluten-free.

Preparing Dough for Conventional Baking
- Sprinkle a small amount of all-purpose flour onto a pastry mat or board.
- Remove the dough using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon.
- Knead the dough by hand two or three times to release trapped air.
- Shape the dough as required by the recipe.
- Place the shaped dough onto a greased baking pan.
- Cover with a clean cloth.
- Allow the dough to rise until nearly doubled, approximately one hour.
- Bake according to the selected recipe.
Reducing Dough Rising Time
The manufacturer describes a method for shortening the rising period:
- Preheat a conventional oven to 200°F for five minutes.
- Turn off the oven.
- Shape the dough and place it on a baking pan.
- Cover with a clean kitchen towel.
- Place the dough in the switched-off oven until doubled in size.

Breadmaking Tips and Best Practices
Use Fresh Ingredients
Fresh flour and yeast are important for producing bread with the expected texture and rise.
Flour that has been stored for a long period may absorb moisture or become excessively dry.
Old yeast may fail to activate properly.
How to Test Yeast Freshness
- Fill a cup with warm water.
- Add 2 teaspoons of sugar and stir.
- Sprinkle a few teaspoons of yeast onto the surface.
- Allow the mixture to stand for 15 minutes.
Fresh yeast should produce foam and a noticeable yeast aroma.
If neither reaction occurs, the yeast should be discarded.
Use Accurate Measurements
All dry ingredients must be leveled when measured.
Liquid measurements should be checked at eye level using a measuring cup with clearly marked measurements.
Add Ingredients in the Correct Order
The required order is liquids first, dry ingredients second, and yeast last.
The yeast must remain separate from the liquids during loading.
Baking at High Altitudes
Locations above approximately 3,000 feet may require recipe adjustments.
At higher altitudes, dough can rise more rapidly and flour may be drier.
| Baking Condition | Recommended Adjustment |
| Dough is too dry | Increase water, sometimes by 2–4 tablespoons per cup. |
| Bread rises too high | Reduce yeast by approximately ⅛–¼ teaspoon for each teaspoon used. |
| Bread rises too high | Reduce sugar by approximately 1–2 teaspoons for each tablespoon used. |
Recipe adjustments should be made gradually.
Measurement Equivalency Chart
| Fluid Ounces | Cups | Tablespoons | Teaspoons |
| 8 | 1 | 16 | 48 |
| 7 | ⅞ | 14 | 42 |
| 6 | ¾ | 12 | 36 |
| 5 | ⅝ | 10 | 30 |
| 4 | ½ | 8 | 24 |
| 3 | ⅜ | 6 | 18 |
| 2 | ¼ | 4 | 12 |
| 1 | ⅛ | 2 | 6 |
One tablespoon equals three teaspoons, and half a tablespoon equals 1½ teaspoons.
