The Heatmiser Touch-E V2 is a touchscreen electric floor heating thermostat designed for 230VAC electric underfloor heating systems. It can operate in Thermostat Mode for temperature-based floor heating control or Time Clock Mode for timed output control.

The Touch-E V2 is designed to be flush mounted and requires a 35mm minimum depth back box.

How to Install the Heatmiser Touch-E V2

Installation Steps

  1. Loosen the retaining screw
    Use a small screwdriver to loosen the screw on the bottom face of the thermostat.
  2. Separate the thermostat front
    Carefully remove the front half from the back plate.
  3. Place the LCD front safely aside
    Keep the Touch-E V2 LCD front plate protected while wiring.
  4. Connect the wiring
    Terminate the Touch-E V2 according to the wiring diagram on page 32 of the manual.
  5. Secure the back plate
    Screw the back plate into the wall back box.
  6. Refit the front panel
    Locate the pins in the socket, insert the top edge first, then push the bottom edge into place.
  7. Tighten the retaining screw
    Secure the thermostat front to the back plate.

Mode Select: Thermostat or Time Clock

The Touch-E V2 can work in two modes.

Thermostat mode is the default setting.

Important Reset Note

Changing between thermostat and time clock modes performs a factory reset. Setup parameters must be repeated after restart, but wireless air sensors and window/door contacts are excluded from this reset.

How to Change Mode

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. The screen goes blank and shows CLOCK and SETUP.
  3. Press and hold SETUP for 10 seconds.
  4. The Touch-E V2 resets and shows two mode options.
  5. Use Left/Right to select:
    • Mode 1 = Thermostat
    • Mode 2 = Time Clock
  6. Press DONE to confirm.
  7. Press the Power key once.
  8. The thermostat restarts in the selected mode.

Power On and Off

Heatmiser Touch-E V2 Heating Thermostat Power on off

The flame icon appears when the thermostat is calling for heat. If the flame icon is absent, heating is not required, but the Touch-E V2 remains active.

Turn the Thermostat Off

Press and hold the Power key for about 3 seconds until the display goes blank. The display and heating output turn off.

Turn the Thermostat Back On

Press the Power key once.

Setting the Time and Date

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. Tap CLOCK.
  3. Set the hour using Up/Down, then press NEXT.
  4. Set the minutes using Up/Down, then press NEXT.
  5. Repeat for day, month, and year.
  6. Press DONE, then press Power to return to the main display.

Temperature Display and Sensor Options

The Touch-E V2 can use:

  • Built-in sensor
  • Floor sensor
  • Built-in sensor + floor sensor
  • Wireless remote air sensor
  • Floor sensor + wireless remote air sensor

The display shows ROOM TEMP or FLOOR TEMP depending on the active sensor. When both air and floor sensing are used, room temperature appears by default.

View Floor Temperature

Press the FLOOR key. The floor temperature appears for 10 seconds.

Pairing Accessories

The Touch-E V2 can pair with up to 16 accessories.

Pairing Steps

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds to turn off the display.
  2. Press SETUP.
  3. Press Down until the letter P appears.
  4. Press NEXT.
  5. The thermostat starts a 99-second countdown.
  6. On the air sensor or window/door contact, hold the pairing button for 5 seconds.
  7. The sensor LED glows red during pairing.
  8. When pairing succeeds, the LED goes out.
  9. The thermostat shows 01:P to confirm the first accessory joined.

Viewing Accessories

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. Press SETUP.
  3. Press Down until the letter A appears.
  4. Press NEXT.
  5. Use Up/Down to view attached accessories.

A wireless air sensor shows the current temperature. A window/door contact shows:

Removing Accessories

Remove from the Sensor or Contact

  1. Press and hold the accessory pairing/reset button for 15 seconds.
  2. The LED flashes three times.
  3. The accessory leaves the Touch-E V2 accessory menu automatically.

Remove from the Touch-E V2

  1. Enter the accessory menu.
  2. Use Up/Down to select the accessory.
  3. Press and hold DONE for 10 seconds until the accessory disappears.
  4. Reset the sensor separately.

Comfort Levels and Programming

The Touch-E V2 supports four factory comfort levels and can also be set for six levels.

Edit Comfort Levels

  1. Press EDIT.
  2. Use DAY to select the day or period.
  3. Press NEXT.
  4. When WAKE flashes, set the hours and minutes with the top Up/Down keys.
  5. Set the temperature with the center Up/Down keys.
  6. Press the Right arrow to move to LEAVE.
  7. Repeat for all comfort levels.
  8. Set unused periods to –:–.
  9. Press DONE to save.

Temperature Control

To temporarily adjust the set temperature:

  1. Press Up or Down.
  2. The screen shows SET TEMP.
  3. Adjust the desired temperature.
  4. Press DONE to confirm.

To cancel the override, press Up or Down, then press CANCEL. The override remains active only until the next programmed comfort level.

Temperature Hold

Temperature Hold sets a temporary temperature for a chosen duration.

Set Temperature Hold

  1. Press HOLD once.
  2. Set the hold hours using Up/Down, then press NEXT.
  3. Set the hold minutes.
  4. Set the hold temperature.
  5. Press DONE.

The screen shows HOLD LEFT, and the countdown runs until the thermostat returns to the normal program.

Cancel or Edit Hold

Press HOLD, then choose CANCEL or EDIT.

Advance Mode

Advance brings the next comfort level forward before its scheduled time.

Enable Advance

  1. Press ADVANCE once.
  2. The display shows ADVANCED UNTIL and the set temperature.
  3. Press DONE.

Cancel Advance

Press ADVANCE, then press CANCEL.

Frost Protection

Frost protection only turns heating on if the room temperature drops below the frost protection temperature.

Enable or Disable Frost Protection

Press the Power key. The frost icon toggles on or off. If heating turns on during frost mode, the flame symbol appears.

Locking and Unlocking the Display

Lock the Touch-E V2

  1. Press and hold HOLD for 3 seconds.
  2. The display shows 0000.
  3. Use Up/Down to set the first two digits.
  4. Press NEXT.
  5. Set the next two digits.
  6. Press DONE.

Unlock the Touch-E V2

  1. Press any key once.
  2. Enter the same four-digit PIN.
  3. Press DONE to unlock.

Holiday Mode

Holiday mode works in both thermostat and time clock modes.

In Thermostat Mode

Holiday mode lowers the set temperature to the frost protection temperature and keeps it there until the return date and time.

In Time Clock Mode

The timed output is turned off during the holiday period and returns to programmed settings when the holiday ends.

Set Holiday Mode

  1. Press HOLIDAY once.
  2. Set the return time hours, then press NEXT.
  3. Set the return time minutes, then press NEXT.
  4. Set day, month, and year.
  5. Press DONE.

Important Floor Heating Sensor Note

The manual states that air sensor only must not be used to control electric underfloor heating. Use floor sensor or air and floor sensor mode for electric floor heating.

Adjusting Optional Settings

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. Press SETUP, then press NEXT.
  3. Use the top Up/Down keys to scroll through features.
  4. Use the center Up/Down keys to change the feature setting.
  5. Press DONE to save.
  6. Press the Power key once to return to normal operation.

Fail Safe and Modbus

Fail Safe

Fail Safe operates when the onboard sensor is disabled and the thermostat depends on one wireless remote sensor. If connection is lost:

  • E2 appears.
  • About 12 minutes later, the thermostat enables the heat source for 12 minutes.
  • It repeats this cycle every hour.
  • Fail Safe continues until the wireless sensor reconnects.

Modbus

The Touch-E V2 can connect to home automation or a building management system through Modbus.

Key Modbus notes:

  • Up to 32 devices can connect to one RS485 adapter.
  • Foil twisted pair cable is recommended.
  • Modbus wiring should be daisy chained, not wired in a star layout.
  • If the Touch-E V2 is the final Modbus device, set the rear fascia toggle switch to On.

Recalibrating the Touch-E V2

The manual says the thermostat is factory set and normally does not need recalibration.

Recalibration Steps

  1. Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the Power key again for 10 seconds.
  3. The current temperature appears.
  4. Use Up/Down to set the new value.
  5. Press DONE.
  6. Press Power once to turn the thermostat on.

  1. Press EDIT.

  8. Repeat for all switching periods.

Timer Advance

Timer Advance brings the next switching time forward before its scheduled time.

Enable Timer Advance

  1. Press ADVANCE once.
  2. The display shows ADVANCED UNTIL and output status.
  3. Press DONE.

Cancel Timer Advance

Press ADVANCE, then press CANCEL.

Timer Override

Timer Override switches the timed output ON or OFF for a selected time.

Set Timer Override

  1. Press HOLD once.
  2. Set hold hours, then press NEXT.
  3. Set hold minutes.
  4. Set the output state ON or OFF.
  5. Press DONE.

The display shows HOLD LEFT until the countdown ends.

Cancel Timer Override

Press HOLD, then press CANCEL.

Replacing the Battery

Heatmiser Touch-E V2 Heating Thermostat Replacing the Battery

The Touch-E V2 includes a 3V lithium battery used only to keep the correct time during power loss. It usually does not need replacement if the thermostat has continuous power.

Battery Replacement Notes

  • Push back the brass retaining bracket to release the battery.
  • Insert the new battery with the positive side up.
  • Locate one end under the holding clips, then press the other end down against the brass bracket.
  • The manual advises battery replacement by a qualified professional.
