The inverter is designed to supply electricity to compatible electronic devices and small household appliances.

AC Output Specifications

SpecificationDetails
AC Outlets2
AC Output Voltage110V
Frequency60Hz
Inverter TypePure Sine Wave
Maximum Continuous Power500W
Momentary Surge PowerUp to 2500W
Surge DurationLess Than 0.1 Second
AC Output IndicatorGreen AC Power LED and LCD AC Output Icon

Important AC Power Limits

The combined continuous power demand of connected appliances must not exceed 500W.

Appliances containing electric motors may require additional power when starting.

The inverter can provide a momentary surge of up to 2500W for less than one-tenth of a second.

However, even appliances rated below 500W may require more starting power than the inverter can supply and cause an automatic overload shutdown.

Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The SL1404 uses a pure sine wave inverter designed to provide power to compatible electronic equipment and appliances.

Before connecting an appliance, verify its continuous power consumption and starting power requirements.

The manufacturer recommends testing a particular device to confirm that the inverter can operate it correctly.

AC Outlet Operating Instructions

  1. Make sure the appliance is switched OFF before connecting it.
  2. Insert the appliance plug into one of the two 110V AC outlets.
  3. Press the AC Output button.
  4. Confirm that the AC Output icon appears on the LCD.
  5. The green AC Power LED illuminates to indicate that AC power is available.
  6. The rotating Discharging indicator also appears.
  7. Turn on the connected appliance.
  8. Monitor the power station for warning indications.
  9. Recharge the generator when the battery level falls below 40%.

Using Multiple AC Devices

When connecting more than one appliance, start each device separately.

This helps avoid simultaneous starting surges that could overload the inverter.

The combined continuous power consumption must remain within the 500W limit.

AC Output Overload Protection

If the connected equipment overloads the inverter:

  • An audible alarm sounds every 3 seconds.
  • The Warning icon flashes on the LCD.
  • The inverter automatically shuts down.

This protective shutdown helps prevent damage to the inverter.

AC Extension Cord Requirements

The owner’s manual permits using an extension cord between the inverter and a connected appliance.

RequirementSpecification
Minimum Wire Size16 AWG (1.31 mm²)
Maximum Length50 Feet
ConnectionBetween Inverter and Appliance

AC Electrical Safety

WARNING: Incorrect operation of the inverter can cause electric shock, electrocution, equipment damage, or personal injury.

  • Do not connect an external AC power source to the 110V AC outlets.
  • Do not connect the generator’s AC charging cord to its own AC outlets.
  • Do not operate AC appliances while the internal battery is charging.
  • Do not exceed the inverter’s 500W continuous output limit.

The Schumacher SL1404 contains a 750Wh lithium-ion battery rated at 25V and 30Ah. The LCD displays the remaining battery capacity in 20% increments. Recharge the generator when its battery level falls below 40%, and never allow the battery to discharge completely.

3. How many watts can the Schumacher SL1404 power generator output?

The Schumacher SL1404 provides up to 500W of continuous AC power through its two 110V AC outlets. Its pure sine wave inverter can also supply a momentary surge of up to 2500W for less than 0.1 second. Connected appliances must remain within the inverter’s operating limits.

4. Can the Schumacher SL1404 be charged with a solar panel?

Yes. The SL1404 supports solar charging through a compatible 30–36V solar panel with a maximum input power of 200W. The panel connects to the Solar Charging Input socket. Charging takes approximately 10 hours on a sunny day.

5. Why does the Schumacher SL1404 keep beeping?

The audible alarm identifies different operating conditions. An alarm every second indicates a charging fault, every 2 seconds indicates a DC output fault, every 3 seconds indicates an AC output fault, and every 4 seconds indicates overheating. Three short beeps every 3 seconds indicate an overload condition. Low-battery warnings use three short beeps every 2 seconds for 30 seconds.

6. Why is the Schumacher SL1404 AC output not working?

Possible causes include a discharged internal battery, excessive connected load, overheating, or internal damage. Recharge the battery, keep continuous AC loads within 500W, and allow the generator to cool if temperature protection is active. Contact Schumacher customer service if the problem continues.

7. How do I change the LED light mode on the Schumacher SL1404?

Press the Light button once to turn on the built-in light. Press the button twice quickly to change to the next lighting mode. The five available modes are High (100%), Normal (50%), Energy Saving (25%), Emergency Flash, and SOS. Press once to turn the light off.

8. What USB ports does the Schumacher SL1404 have?

The Schumacher SL1404 includes three USB ports, each providing 5V DC power. The ports are rated at 1A, 2A, and 2.4A. When a connected USB device is receiving power, the USB Output icon and rotating Discharging indicator appear on the LCD.
